Today my guest is Romy Sommer. She brings up a very interesting question. I have to admit that I never really thought about how seasonal reading would differ for those in the southern hemisphere. Welcome, Romy! I recently had a review for my latest book The Trouble with Mojitos which said the following: “I would have said this was the perfect summer holiday read, except it s been released in autumn! Maybe it s the perfect winter holiday read if you re lucky enough to get away to warmer climes this winter.” Which got me to thinking do most readers prefer to read books set in the same season they’re currently in? I live in sunny South Africa where our winters are pretty mild and there’s not a huge amount of seasonal change so it’s never occurred to me to tailor my reading to my season. Besides, being in the southern hemisphere, we’re always out of step with seasonal releases. The new books that hit the shelves in December (when I’m on my summer holidays) are usually about
